Comedy series Ann Droid has been a major hit with British telly fans up and down the country. Starring renowned comedian and actress Diane Morgan as a dysfunctional care robot and beloved national treasure Sue Johnston as her reluctant companion, the hilarious show has touched viewers' hearts and tickled their funny bones.
The first series, which aired in July 2026, drew a reported four million viewers for its first episode which saw us introduced to the two main characters as well as Sue's son Michael, played by Motherland's Paul Ready.
Not only that, but the talk about Ann Droid online has been almost non-stop - with a major increase in online searches about the show throughout July and a huge surge in social media interactions too.
So it's no surprise that online publications are reporting that series two is in the works. Although the BBC have yet to confirm it or even officially commission it, The Sun is reporting that production company Boffola Pictures are already developing a follow-up season.
🚨 SPOILERS AHEAD! 🚨
As viewers will know, the end of the first series finale episode was very much left open, leaving a path for a follow-up series very clear. Although Michael (Paul Ready) had decided to return Linda the robot (Diane Morgan), his mum Sue (Sue Johnston) had come to grow fond of her care companion.
In the end, Linda escaped from the removals van after learning from other discarded robots that she was being taken to be dismantled and sold for metal, as Sue was under the impression she would be going to help someone else.
Simultaneously, Sue discovered an incredibly detailed and thoughtful letter from Linda to Michael with instructions on how to care for Sue, and decided to drive her car for the first time in a LONG time to try and find her - with the pair accidentally colliding in a priceless moment.
Fingers crossed we get the confirmation of Ann Droid series two soon!
