Will there be a second series of Ann Droid?
After weeks of speculation surrounding a second series, and fans almost begging bosses, the BBC confirmed on Thursday 27th August that Ann Droid WILL return for a second series!
Speaking about the news, actress and writer Diane Morgan said: “The response to Ann Droid has been so incredible. We’re all totally blown away. I’m really looking forward to not blinking, needing physio and hearing Cotton Eyed Joe on repeat.”
Actress Sue Johnston added: “I am so unbelievably happy that we are to do another series! Great script, great cast, great crew. The reaction from the public has been wonderful. Even my doctor called me Sue, Sue, Sue this morning! Everyone has been asking if there will be more and now we can tell them! Yippee.”
When does it come out?
There's no release date just yet, but it could be 2027.
Emma Lawson, Interim Director of BBC Comedy, says: “We’re delighted to be bringing Ann Droid back for a second series. Diane and Sarah have created such a warm, relatable, and uniquely funny comedy that audiences in their millions have fallen in love with. Alongside the brilliant team at Boffola and Witchcraft Industries, they’ve given us something truly distinctive, and Linda and Sue Sue Sue have quickly become two of comedy’s most lovable characters. We’re thrilled that we will all get to spend more time with them!”
How many episodes will it have?
Series two will be made up of six episodes, all with a running time of 30 minutes.
Shane Allen, executive producer for Boffola Pictures, said: “We marvel at our BBC robot overlords and their impeccable decision making. Diane and Sue are comedy dynamite, fronting a superb cast. We’re all overwhelmed by how much the audience has taken the show to their hearts. As a warning to critics and begrudgers, any backlash against series 2 will be met by Linda’s inbuilt tasers.”

How did series one end?
🚨 SPOILERS AHEAD! 🚨
As viewers will know, the end of the final episode from series one was very much left open, leaving a path for a follow-up series very clear. Although Michael (Paul Ready) had decided to return Linda the robot (Diane Morgan), his mum Sue (Sue Johnston) had come to grow fond of her care companion.
In the end, Linda escaped from the removals van after learning from other discarded robots that she was being taken to be dismantled and sold for metal, as Sue was under the impression she would be going to help someone else.
Simultaneously, Sue discovered an incredibly detailed and thoughtful letter from Linda to Michael with instructions on how to care for Sue, and decided to drive her car for the first time in a LONG time to try and find her - with the pair accidentally colliding in a priceless moment.
