Just a week after Ringo Starr joined us on Greatest Hits Radio, and teased a new song with his Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney, the track is now officially out. Titled ‘Home To Us’, the song has been released on 8th May 2026 - with Sir Paul also revealing the inspiration behind it during an exclusive event attended by 50 lucky fans.

Fans of the singer were given the chance to listen to his upcoming album 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' in full, at the iconic Abbey Road Studio Two, where he also shared the stories behind his new music.

Speaking about 'Home to Us', the first duet he has done with Ringo Starr, Paul said: "Ringo went round to the studio and drummed a bit. I said to Andrew (Watt), we should make a track and send it to him. So this song is done totally with Ringo in mind.

"In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked."

He continued: "Even though it was crazy, it was home to us. I made the song around that idea and sent it to Ringo. He sent me back a version where he just added some lines to the chorus, so I thought, maybe he doesn’t like it.

"I rang him and he said he thought I only wanted him to sing one or two lines, and I said I’d love to hear him sing the whole thing. So we took my first line, Ringo’s second line, and then we had a duet. We’d never done that before. Then we wanted some backing vocals and I had the idea it would be nice to hear girls. Chrissie Hynde said she’d do it, and Sharleen Spiteri, they’re mates. So they did it."

This echoes what Ringo told Simon Mayo in a Greatest Hits Radio interview in April, where he told him about the song they had done together: "The project that it ended up on, which is Paul's record, I did it with the guy who produced the record for Paul.

"And I went down to just jammed with him in his studio down the road and he played guitar and someone had left their kit there, so I played… (it) wasn't even my kit.

"We were just jamming and then three days later, because I was doing one of my EPs, I asked the producer guy to send me that track, maybe we can turn it into a song or something. Anyway, he never sent it to me.

"And then Paul comes into town, he's working with him, and they've taken the drum track from that jam and put everything on top of it, including the song, so it's far out and it's about us."
