Kylie Minogue's latest song 'Light Up' out now as part of new Netflix doc
Created especially for the docuseries and featured in the final episode
Kylie Minogue is stepping back into the spotlight in a very personal way, as a brand-new Netflix documentary has arrived, accompanied by an original song.
While the series promises rare insight into one of pop’s most enduring figures, it’s the unexpected addition of new music that adds an extra layer of intrigue for fans!
What is the song about?
Created for the documentary’s final episode, 'Light Up' is a euphoric, stadium-ready pop anthem centred on love, resilience and human potential. It taps into the emotional shift that happens when someone truly sees you - even through loss, hurt or uncertainty.
The track began back in 2023, sparked by the opening line: 'If a light were to shine every tear that I cried, a million stars would be shining tonight'. It later evolved during filming, when producer John Battsek suggested Kylie write an original song for the series.
From there, 'Light Up' took shape, co-written with longtime collaborators Biff, Duck and Luke, alongside Coldplay's Chris Martin.

What is the documentary about?
The documentary itself leans into similar themes. Directed by Michael Harte and featuring contributions from Dannii Minogue, Jason Donovan, Nick Cave and Pete Waterman, it blends archive footage with new interviews to explore Kylie’s career, personal challenges and lasting cultural impact.
Speaking about the documentary, Kylie said: "I feel like this documentary is a series of love stories: It's a love story with my craft, with certain people in my life, with my audience, family, fans, music and so much more. I've just been saying to my friends, ‘Buckle up. You're in for a ride’. I think that's accurate… and if you don't laugh, you'll cry – and it is okay to cry.”
She also hinted that this isn’t a closing chapter, adding: "I’m excited to take what I do know into the future, to discover what I don’t know..."
When is it out?
KYLIE, the three-part documentary series, is available to stream now on Netflix, with new song 'Light Up' arriving as part of the story in the final episode.
