A 43-year-old woman accused of killing her three children in Bristol is set to stand trial next year.

Yasmeen Ali is charged with the murders of seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash, who died of stab wounds at their home in Sea Mills in February 2024.

The defendant is currently being held in a psychiatric hospital and was not required to appear for the hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.

Judge Peter Blair KC, the Recorder of Bristol, scheduled a provisional trial date for 12th October 2026.

What happened in February 2024?

The charges relate to an incident in Blaise Walk, Sea Mills.

An inquest found the three children died of knife wounds to the chest and neck, with signs of asphyxia also identified in Fares Bash.

Their father, Alfil Bash, attended the hearing alongside other members of the community.

He held up photographs of his children during the proceedings.

Next court appearance

Ali is expected to appear in court via video link on 20th March 2026 ahead of the trial.

Following the deaths, Avon and Somerset Police referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over prior contact with the family.

The watchdog decided no investigation was required.
