The family of two British citizens detained in Iran, has appealed for their release to be prioritised in upcoming diplomatic talks between Iran and the international community.

Craig and Lindsay Foreman from Sussex are accused of charges that their family claims are unjust, and they have been on hunger strike in their prison cells in Iran. Craig marked day 39 of his strike on 15th June 2024, while Lindsay reached day 30, expressing their desperation for global attention.

The Foreman family has called for diplomatic action to secure their release, ensuring continued consular visits, proper medical attention, and regular family communication.

Joe Bennett, Lindsay’s son, expressed that "any serious peace framework with Iran must include the fate of foreign detainees. Peace cannot just mean quieter borders and open shipping routes. It must mean people coming home."

The family urges the UK Government to advocate for Craig and Lindsay during diplomatic discussions and demands immediate consular access, medical assessment, and the reinstatement of family contact from Iran.

Additionally, the US Administration and G7 partners are encouraged to coordinate their efforts so that sanctions relief and diplomacy involve the release of foreign nationals detained in Iran.

Joe Bennett remains steadfast, stating, "This is not about politics. It is about whether diplomacy has a human purpose," urging for coordinated international action to address the situation.
