Teenage driver arrested after seriously injuring 13-year-old cyclist in Birmingham collision

The young boy remains in hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries

A 19-year-old boy has been arrested after the car he was driving collided with a boy on a bike in Birmingham, leaving him seriously injured.

Police were called to St Andrews Road, Nechells at 8:40pm last night (3 April), to reports that a 13-year-old boy had been seriously injured, while the driver fled the scene.

The boy remains in hospital in a serious condition, with potentially life-threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old was arrested shortly after on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Any witnesses or anyone who holds dashcam footage in being urged to come forward in order to support police with their investigation.
