Man charged with attempted murder of teenager in Brierfield

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed in Brierfield.

Lancashire Police responded to reports of an attack on Wood Street at 3.06pm on Friday 12th June 2026.

Officers found the teenager who had suffered a stab wound to the back of her neck.

She was hospitalised but thankfully her injuries were not life-threatening, and she has since been discharged.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder soon after the incident.

Following discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service, Junaid Nawaz of Livingstone Walk has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Monday 15th June 2026).
