Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed it was hit by a cyber incident on Monday, 14 September, which caused disruption to some of its non-emergency systems.

The force says an investigation has been underway since the incident was identified, with support from cyber-security specialists, and that precautionary measures have been put in place while teams work to safely restore services.

Police have moved to reassure the public that the force remains fully operational, with its response to emergency incidents unaffected.

Both 999 and 101 phone lines have continued working throughout, and while online and email contact were temporarily unavailable, these have now been restored.

The Information Commissioner's Office has been notified of the incident. At this stage, the force says its investigation has found no evidence that members of the public's personal data has been accessed or compromised.

However, Dyfed-Powys Police say they are continuing to investigate whether any information relating to staff may have been affected, and are taking steps to protect that information. Appropriate advice will be given to colleagues if needed.

The investigation is being managed by Tarian, through its regional cyber-crime unit, with force systems continuing to be closely monitored.

In a statement, the force said: "We understand the potential concern this may cause and want to reassure the public that we have and will continue to take all necessary steps to protect our information and maintain the security of our systems."

Further updates are expected to be issued as the investigation progresses.
