More than 60 homes were evacuated in South Bristol overnight over concerns there may have been explosive items inside a house.

Emergency services were called to South Liberty Lane just before 6pm last night.

A man has been arrested and a police presence will remain in the area throughout today.

No casualties have been reported.

A large cordon - that's now been lifted - was in place, and residents were sent to a local community centre.

This morning, they've been let back into their homes after the incident was declared safe.

Police have thanked locals for their "patience and understanding".
