Woman suffers 'potentially life-changing' injuries in dog attack in Bristol

A woman has been taken to hospital following a dog attack in Bristol.

Police remain at the scene on Sutton Avenue where a woman in her 40s sustained what are described as potentially 'life-changing' injuries.

Avon and Somerset Police released the following statement: "Emergency services were called at about 4.15pm on Thursday 10 April after a woman was bitten by a dog at a home in Sutton Avenue, Bristol.

"The woman, believed to be in her forties, has gone to hospital by land ambulance, with injuries currently described as potentially life-changing.

"Officers used protective shields to ensure their own safety while entering the address.

"Police remain at the scene and the dog is secured at the property pending the arrival of specialist dog handlers.

The force says it's not yet able to confirm the dog's breed.
