£1.9 million investment to upgrade gas network in Clevedon area
More than nine kilometres of gas pipes will be replaced
Wales & West Utilities is investing more than £1.9 million over the next two years, to upgrade gas pipes in the Clevedon area.
The intensive programme of mains replacement works will see the company replace more than nine kilometres of gas pipes. To minimise disruption, the gas emergency and pipeline service will work closely with North Somerset Council, to carefully plan projects and manage any necessary traffic measures.
Work is expected to start in the Elm Tree Road area and, as soon as a date is known, Wales & West Utilities will communicate with the local community.
Wales & West Utilities’ Simon Lee is managing the programme and said: “We’re investing in our gas network to ensure it remains safe, reliable and fit for the future, for the customers we serve across the Clevedon area. We'll be keeping the local community updated on these works and working with the local authority and other key partners, to keep disruption to a minimum.
“We understand our work can cause disruption, but it is essential to maintain a resilient gas network, that households and business can rely on every day.
“While much of the gas network is out of sight, it plays a vital role in daily life – from heating homes to cooking meals and we know how important it is that gas is there when people need it.”
