Kingswood town centre begins transformation
Local regeneration efforts aim to uplift area’s appearance and facilities
Improvement works in Kingswood town centre have commenced as part of a major regeneration initiative aiming to elevate the district's appearance and support its future vitality.
The initial phase targets Regent Street, focusing on the repair and restoration of 37 shopfronts, seven upper facades, and the public toilets on Moravian Road.
These enhancements are informed by community feedback and are designed to improve Kingswood’s overall appeal for residents and visitors alike.
Included in the works are the removal of existing signboards, installation of new timber fascia signage, lighting upgrades, and awning installations.
More improvements, including road and pedestrian pathway upgrades, new seating, planting, public art, and murals, are anticipated this autumn.
Alongside these efforts, Kingswood Park is undergoing a substantial £2.67 million transformation funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with new play areas and pathways, refurbishment of the amphitheatre, and improvements to its historical features.
The regeneration project is supported financially by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, emphasizing infrastructure development and community enrichment.
Councillor Chris Willmore said: “These improvements mark an important step in the regeneration of Kingswood town centre.
"We have been guided by the feedback gathered during public engagement and by improving shopfronts and public spaces, we are helping to create a more attractive, welcoming and vibrant town centre that local people can be proud of.
"The improvements will support local businesses, enhance the experience for visitors and residents, and help strengthen Kingswood’s identity for the future.”
