A man from Bristol has been given an indefinite hospital order after being found responsible for the death of his sister.
Due to being deemed unfit to stand trial, a hearing of facts was held in 58 year old Michael Bull's absence at Bristol Crown Court last month.
The decision to place Bull under an indefinite hospital order was made during another hearing at Bristol Crown Court today.
The incident dates back to 6th October 2023, when Michael Bull called emergency services to their property in Temple Street, Bedminster, asking for an ambulance for his sister, Susan, who was not breathing.
Despite efforts from paramedics, Susan Bull was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
A forensic post-mortem failed to determine the exact cause of death, but the coroner confirmed it was not due to natural causes.
Senior Investigating Officer, Det Insp Neil Meade, stated: “Today concludes an incredibly complex investigation which saw officers in our Major Crime Investigation Team face several challenges over the past few years.
“Susan’s loved ones remain in our thoughts and they have shown incredible strength throughout. Today closes the chapter of our investigation, but not the suffering they continue to endure since Susan’s death.”
