Heavy rain brought by Storm Claudia has caused severe flooding affecting a number of rail services across the south west.

GWR has issued a 'do not travel warning', with no train services running between London Paddington and Swansea via Bristol Parkway & London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads via Swindon.

The lines are currently closed to flooding, with severe disruption expected to last for the rest of the day.

In a statement, the train operator said: Heavy rain from Storm Claudia has caused severe flooding at a number of locations across the Western route, meaning trains are not able to pass through.

"Those planning to travel this evening should make alternative arrangements where possible as severe disruption is expected to continue until the end of train service.

"The line between Barnstaple and Crediton, which closed on Wednesday, also remains closed this evening. "
