Tens of thousands of LGBT people and allies from across the west country are in Bristol (12th July) for this year's annual Pride festival.

Crowds of rainbows, colourful flags and beautiful, outlandish outfits will parade through the city before heading to The Downs.

"It's full of love and joy and the atmosphere is incredible," said Director Daryn Carter.

"It's the people that make it so special. You're amongst chosen family; you're amongst community and friends."

The Parade

People will begin to gather at Castle Park at around 10am on Saturday morning before setting off at 10:45.

The 2 mile march will work its way through the city centre, lasting about an hour and ending at the Lloyds Amphitheatre.

"Pride is a protest!" said organisers, in an online statement.

"We use our political voice to amplify, maintain and further LGBT+ human rights in Bristol and beyond.

"It is a bold statement for equality, diversity and inclusion, to celebrate our community and to show that hatred and prejudice have no place in our city, or anywhere."

Shuttle buses will be waiting at the Amphitheatre to take festival-goers to The Downs.

The Festival

40,000 people will be enjoying Pride Day on The Downs, listening to performances at five different stages.

Allie X is headlining the Main Stage at 8:25pm, with Kim Wilde taking the legend slot at 4:40pm.

Dance icon Cascada will also be treating crowds to an hour-long set at 7:25pm.

A circus tent will be transformed into a dance tent at 5pm, with pop bangers, RnB and disco through the evening.

The O2 Academy will host the official afterparty from 10pm.

Getting to Pride

Anyone with a supporters wristband will be able to travel for free with First Bus in Bristol.

The 1, 2, 3 and 4 will take you to The Downs at College Green and The Cenotaph.

A shuttle bus will also be running from the Amphitheatre to the Downs from 11am to 10pm.

Weather warnings

Sun cream, hats and water will be Pride Day essentials this year with highs of 33 degrees predicted in Bristol on Saturday.

The UK Health Security Agency has a yellow heat alert in place throughout the weekend.
