Man arrested after pride flags torn down outside school
On Monday, officers arrested a man in his thirties in Bedminster on suspicion of theft and criminal damage
A man has been arrested on suspicion of tearing down Pride flags and making homophobic comments outside a school in south Bristol, Avon and Somerset Police have said.
The pride flags, which were part of an after-school club’s display of international and other flags, were ripped down at around 7pm on May 22.
Police were informed after at least a dozen staff, parents and members of the public reported the hate crime online.
On Monday, officers arrested a man in his thirties in Bedminster on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.
He was also arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons offences, after items including suspected cocaine were found at an address, police have said.
The man remains in custody.
