The Bishop for Bath and Wells, Michael Beasley, has been paying tribute to Pope Francis on the day of his funeral.

The Pope passed away on Easter Monday from a stroke and heart failure.

Thousands have been in mourning at the Vatican and across the country since his death.

Bishop Michael Beasley said: "Francis has been an extraordinary Christian leader and has been a spiritual guide for us all.

"He's broken new ground in lots of different ways.

"One thing I would thing about is his work in respect to the environment and climate change.

"I hope the next Pope will bring similar factors to the church like Francis did."

Pope Francis will be laid to rest at 9am.
