Police say victims of child predator will be supported
It comes after a teacher who sexually abused students in her care was found guilty yesterday
Police say they'll be supporting the victims of a teacher who sexually abused students in her care in Southampton and Wiltshire.
Bronwen James was convicted of three counts of sexual activity with a teenage boy yesterday.
Winchester Crown Court also heard the 30-year-old had admitted a string of similar charges in relation to two schoolgirls.
A hearing to determine when sentencing will take place is scheduled for Monday.
Detective Inspector Francesca Mason said: "The children under her supervision had every right to look to her for her support and guidance.
"However, the jury sitting at Winchester Crown Court heard how Bronwen James betrayed the trust placed in her by cynically manipulating these children.
"She encouraged them to engage in sexual activity for her own selfish gratification.
"This is somebody who they have looked up to as a mentor and a role model.
"Tragically, nothing could have been further from the truth.
"She is a sexual predator.
"The survivors of this abuse will have to live with the impact from Bronwen James' actions, which took place at a pivotal time in their emotional development.
"I would like to place on record my thanks to each one of them for their bravery in reporting these offences and for their forbearance in awaiting the justice that they deserve."
