Thousands of surfers "paddling out" to protest against sewage
The protest, organised by Surfers Against Sewage, will take place across 56 locations
Protesters across 56 sites will "paddle out" today to protest sewage pollution.
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), a charity which aims to end sewage pollution in Britain's waterways, expect thousands of people to take part in the protest.
The SAS website describes the protests as: "people coming together to stand up to the water industry in the very spaces we want to protect – the water, the beaches, the rivers and all that surrounds them."
The charity is calling today (Saturday 16th May) its biggest day of action on record.
SAS were originally set to protest at Brighton West Pier and Rottingdean, but following the deaths of three women in the sea near that location, the charity cancelled the protest.
