Man charged over serious assault outside Nottingham rave

A man has been charged following a serious assault outside a rave in Nottingham.

Emergency services were called to The Nest in Iremonger Road after reports of a serious assault outside the venue during the early hours of Monday, 31st August.

A man in his 40s was found unconscious, having been struck to the head. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

20-year-old Preston Busby from Kensington Gardens, Ilkeston, was arrested on Wednesday.

During the arrest, policealso seized a quantity of MDMA.

He faces charges of grievous bodily harm without intent and possession of a Class A drug.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court yesterday and will next attend a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 2nd October.

Detective Inspector Ian Smith of Nottinghamshire Police expressed gratitude to those assisting with the investigation, saying:

"We are continuing to support the victim's family, and they have been informed about these charges.

"A team of detectives has carried out a very thorough investigation, and I'd also like to thank those members of the public who responded to our appeal for information."
