Man charged over dog attack against Greater Manchester Police officer

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man has been charged over a dog attack against one of their officers.

The victim suffered an injury to his left hand whilst on patrol in Leigh town centre on Friday.

46 year old Lee Draper - who's from Cinnamon Avenue in Hindley - is due in court next month.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said:

"A man has been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act after an officer from our Leigh East Neighbourhood team was injured Friday evening (11/04/2025), requiring hospital treatment for puncture wounds to his left hand.

"Lee Draper (11/05/1978) of Cinnamon Avenue in Hindley was charged with an offence of failing to keep a dangerous dog under control and allowing it to injure a person contrary to section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

"Draper has been bailed with conditions not to enter Leigh Town Centre.

"He will appear at Wigan Magistrates on 14th May 2025." {{News}}
