Forensic enquiries are taking place after a shooting in Bootle.

Just after 5.50pm, Merseyside Police received reports that shots had been fired on William Henry Street, causing damage to a house.

Reports suggest the suspect is a bearded male who was wearing a camouflage jacket at the time of the incident.

Officers attended the scene and found damage to the front wall of the property.

No one was injured.

Crime Scene Investigators are now carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house enquiries are underway, police said.

High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area, the force added.

Detective Inspector Keith Swift, said: "An investigation into the full circumstances of this incident is ongoing, however, we do believe it was a targeted attack. I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Owen Road shortly before, or after the incident, to contact us. Information they have could be vital."
