Greta Thunberg arrested at protest supporting Palestine Action prisoners in London

A protest in support of imprisoned Palestine Action members ended in multiple arrests, including climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The 22-year-old was detained after joining demonstrators outside Aspen Insurance offices on Fenchurch Street in central London on Tuesday morning.

In a video shared by the Prisoners for Palestine protest group, Thunberg was holding a sign reading, "I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide."

The group targeted Aspen Insurance’s office, claiming the company provides services to the Israeli-linked defence firm Elbit Systems.

Two activists involved in the protest sprayed the front of the building with red paint before police officers arrived and made arrests.

A spokesperson from City of London Police confirmed authorities responded at approximately 7am and arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of criminal damage.

Both had glued themselves at the location, prompting specialist officers to step in and remove them safely.

The spokesperson continued: "A little while later, a 22-year-old woman also attended the scene. She has been arrested for displaying an item (in this case a placard) in support of a proscribed organisation (in this case Palestine Action) contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000."

Thunberg is yet to make a public statement following her arrest.
