The 40th anniversary remix of Motörhead’s ‘Orgasmatron’ will get its first play on a replica of Lemmy’s famous Murder One amplifier in the late legend’s birthplace of Burslem next month.
The ‘Orgasmatron’ listening party takes place at the Motörhead themed bar, Lemmy’s Lounge, on Lemmy Plaza, Burslem at 7pm on Thursday 5th November.
Hosted by Lemmy’s friend Krusher Joule, the event will feature a playback of the three-disc album in its gloriously heavy entirety through a custom rebuild of Lemmy’s iconic 1976 Marshall JMP Super Bass 100W amplifier.
The replica was meticulously created by Chris Hewitt of CH Vintage Audio, and it’s a proud – and very loud - new addition to Lemmy’s Lounge.
BMG Records will also be providing some goodies to give away at the ‘Orgasmatron’ listening party and there will be a raffle to fundraise for IFK Legacy CIC.
Tickets to the event cost £16 and include a free drink including a selection Motörhead beers, spirits and soft drinks. Limited to just 50, the tickets can be purchased from www.lemmyforever.uk on Friday 9th October.
Lemmy’s Lounge officially opened its doors this May, one year after the unveiling of Andy Edwards’ incredible Lemmy statue, which is just metres away.
Originally released in 1986, ‘Orgasmatron’ was recorded by the Motörhead line-up of Lemmy, Phil Campbell, Würzel and Pete Gill.
The 40th anniversary re-release was remixed and remastered by longtime Motörhead collaborator Cameron Webb.
Speaking of the remix, Webb said: “Lemmy and Phil both said they didn’t like the original mix, so I thought about what they might have asked me to do if they were sitting next to me.
“I tried to channel what I knew about them and their approach to recording — bringing out the bass here, defining the guitars there — while still respecting what was already there. The aim was never to replace the original, but to reveal more of what was inside it.”
Orgasmatron 40th Anniversary Edition is released on Friday 6th November as a deluxe 3LP bookpack and 2CD, featuring the remastered original mix, the Cameron Webb Remix, additional studio rehearsals and outtakes recorded in 1985, and the complete BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session from 1986, capturing the band during the Orgasmatron era.
The 40th anniversary edition is also available as a 1LP pressing on transparent violet vinyl, featuring the original studio album.
