AC/DC concert cancelled due to severe storm damage
The gig at Rogers Stadium won't go ahead
AC/DC’s concert in Toronto has been cancelled after Rogers Stadium suffered “severe damage” in a thunderstorm.
Areas of the 50,000-capacity venue’s seating were wrecked when heavy rain and 80mph winds ripped through the stadium on Wednesday 2nd September.
Promoters Live Nation have now scrapped AC/DC’s show on Wednesday 16th September following a “thorough assessment” of the stadium.
‘Safety for employees, fans, artists and vendors is always paramount,’ notes Live Nation. ‘Last Wednesday's storm was an exceptionally severe and significant weather event, and in the days since, engineers have conducted a thorough assessment of the venue in coordination with the City of Toronto.
‘That work has determined that sections of the venue impacted by the storm will need to be removed and rebuilt.’
"Canceling a concert is never a decision we want to make, and we know how disappointing this will be for all of us who have been looking forward to seeing AC/DC close out our summer season," said Wayne Zronik, president, business operations, Live Nation Canada.
"Safety has to come first. Our teams have been working closely with the City and our partners to understand the storm damage and what needs to happen next. The right decision is to take the time to remove and rebuild the affected parts of the stadium to ensure it is ready to welcome fans next summer."
All original ticket purchases for the canceled AC/DC concert at Rogers Stadium will be automatically refunded in full.
On Tuesday (8th September), Foo Fighters opened for AC/DC at The Dome at America’s Center in St Louis, Missouri.
AC/DC’s 2026 Power Up Tour continues at Montreal Parc Jean-Drapeau on Saturday (12th September) and visits Winnipeg and East Rutherford before concluding at Philadelphia Lincoln Financial Field on Tuesday 29th September.
