AC/DC concert in doubt after severe thunderstorm wrecks stadium
Rogers Stadium has sustained significant damage
AC/DC’s upcoming concert in Toronto is in jeopardy after a huge thunderstorm severely damaged Rogers Stadium.
The 50,000-capacity venue suffered major damage to its outdoor seating when heavy rain and 80mph winds ripped through the stadium on Wednesday 2nd September.
As part of the North American leg of their multi-year Power Up Tour, AC/DC are due to play Rogers Stadium on Wednesday 16th September, and it’s currently unclear if the show will go ahead.
A statement from promoters Live Nation on Thursday read: “As a result of yesterday’s extreme weather, Rogers Stadium sustained significant damage.
“As always, the safety of our employees and on-site contractors is our top priority. Fortunately, no one was injured during the extreme weather event.
“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage and will provide further information as it becomes available.”
Opened as a temporary music venue in June 2025, Rogers Stadium has hosted concerts by acts including System of a Down, Foo Fighters, Oasis and Coldplay over the past 15 months.
The stadium is expected to close in 2030 at the end of its 5-year lifespan.
