RAYE, the singer behind her amazing debut album 'My 21st Century Blues', and her recent TikTok hit 'Escapism', has also had a plethora of collabs with the likes of Jax Jones, Joel Corry, Mabel and even David Guetta!

With so many fantastic songs under her belt, we thought we'd take a look at some of her biggest collaborations including 'Bed' with Joel Corry and David Guetta and 'You Don't Know Me' with Jax Jones.

RAYE's biggest collaborations:

Jonas Blue featuring RAYE: 'By Your Side' (2016)

Although RAYE had quietly been working her way into the music industry already at this point, she had her first taste of mainstream success when she worked with Jonas Blue on his 2016 single 'By Your Side'. Hitting Number 15 in the UK - and Number 6 in the Dance charts - it's also been certified Platinum with a whopping 600,000 sales in the UK.

RAYE revealed how the collaboration came about in an interview with Purple Revolver in 2016, explaining how a family friend had a "mental" chance encounter with producer Jonas, and put her name forward: "So, my dad's friend is an Uber driver, and Jonas was in his cab. And my dad's friend was like to Jonas, 'You need to hear this girl. She's called Raye, and she's great.' And he ended up playing him some songs. And anyway, word of mouth came around, and my name was brought up again, and he was like, 'Yeah, I want Raye on this song.'"

Jonas corroborated this story in an interview with the Evening Standard in 2017: "I found out about Raye in the back of an Uber. The driver told me about a singer that had just been signed. Raye is a great songwriter. When you get in a studio and there are four walls and no windows and it gets dry, she's the person you need because she hypes it up."

Jax Jones featuring RAYE: 'You Don't Know Me' (2016)

If RAYE's first taste of chart success came through 'By Your Side', it was her next collab that REALLY threw her into the spotlight. She teamed up with Jax Jones in a writing session as the pair were both on the same A&R label, and ended up making a timeless banger that won't feel out of place on any summer playlist. It peaked at Number 3 in the UK charts and has since been certified a whopping 3x Platinum with 1.8 million sales! It was even nominated at the BRIT Awards 2018 for British Single of the Year.

RAYE told Hey Mag in 2019 that they'd been taken aback by the song. "None of us saw that coming, it was really insane," she exclaimed. "It was the way we wrote the song, it was natural. We were drinking and having a party and it was mostly freestyles and vibes. Jax took it away and put the Booka Shade's bassline on it, and I was like, 'Sick', but I just had no idea it was gonna do like it did, so it was very cool."

Jax told The Line of Best Fit how the song was written, praising RAYE as a "genius: "This track is so simple. It's just one of those that works better for not throwing the kitchen sink at it. At the end of the first day of writing with RAYE (a genius), Jin Jin (the other co-writer and another genius) and I (occasionally been called a genius - usually by my mum) just had a bassline and the song mapped out. The vocal was inspired by a lot of bashment and general bravado as we were having a lot of fun and feeling good that day in the studio."

RAYE later added to tmrw magazine that she wasn't even originally meant to be singing on the record: "Jax's team wanted to get me involved as a writer on the track. I was originally only meant to write the top line for it but ended up being asked to stay on and do the vocals, which I'm glad about because I ended up loving it!"

RAYE featuring Mr Eazi: 'Decline' (2017)

Marking a huge career moment for RAYE, her first big success as lead artist - rather than featured - came in the form of 'Decline', featuring Mr Eazi. The track contained a cool interpolation of the timeless hit 'Always on Time' by Ja Rule and Ashanti, with RAYE flipping the narrative from the original and making it more empowering, giving the female voice back the control. It went to Number 15 in the UK where it's also been certified Platinum, and you can read more about the meaning behind the song right here.

Mr Eazi spoke about working with RAYE in an interview with Notion, revealing that working with her taught him a few things about making music: "Watching her write pop music taught me a lot sonically. Her (style of) songwriting is different, for me, songwriting is a feeling, but with RAYE there's a vibe, and also a technique that you can see (progress) song to song."

The pair worked together again in 2018, both as featured artists on Major Lazer track 'Tied Up' - even appearing in the song's music video together, which you can watch on YouTube here.

Kojo Funds featuring RAYE: 'Check' (2018)

RAYE's next big collab was 'Check' by Kojo Funds, which appeared on his debut mixtape 'Golden Boy'. Containing a sample of 'Seven Days' by Craig David, the song peaked at Number 26 in the UK and has since been certified Platinum by the BPI.

In an interview with SK Vibemaker, RAYE explained the "maddest story" of how the track had come about, that she'd been in the studio with a production team called Vades when a large group of guys turned up - two of which were Kojo Funds and Yxng Bane, although she hadn't known that at the time. She put some freestyle down to a song and thought nothing more of it until one of her sisters texted her eight months later: "I've heard this song by Kojo Funds and you're singing. I know that's your voice."

Confused, RAYE listened to the song and - sure enough - it was her own vocals on the track that had spread like wildfire. She went on: "I followed Kojo and I was like, 'Yo, what's good? This tune is sick, but how comes it's leaked? What's the deal?' Anyway, we linked up, and then I met his management. We got in the studio and worked on other stuff, and they were just like, 'We love this song so much that we want to release it as his single.' I was like, 'I'm so down,' but the way it came about was just so weird, you know what I mean?"

RAYE, Mabel, Stefflon Don: 'Cigarette' (2018)

RAYE went back to a previous collaborator for her next feature later in 2018, calling up Stefflon Don who she'd worked with on a remix of 'After the Afterparty' by Charli XCX the previous year. They teamed up with Mabel for 'Cigarette', which just missed out on the UK Top 40 at Number 41, but has since been certified Gold.

Mabel said prior to the song's release about working with RAYE and Stefflon Don to Fader magazine: "It's nice to have each other's backs. There's no competition whatsoever, because we're all in our own lanes and we all have things to say. So it's literally just love and support."

RAYE also told Fader: "There's nothing stronger than girls supporting girls," and later opened up about writing the song to SK Vibemaker: "This is a tune that I wrote not really thinking about what it was gonna be, and I was like this has got a really cool hook on it but it's missing something. So I called up Mabel and Steff and I was just like, 'I've got this song, I was thinking we could do like a girl collaboration thing'. I feel like girls don't collaborate enough in the UK. They were both so down and we all got in the studio, I already had my verse and then Mabel, we wrote her verse and then Steff just got in and did her thing."

RAYE would later team up with Mabel once again to co-write and co-produce her 2021 hit single 'Let Them Know'.

Jax Jones, Martin Solveig and RAYE: 'Tequila' (2020)

RAYE went back to Jax Jones once more in 2020 for 'Tequila', a HUGE summery tune that peaked at Number 21 in the mainstream UK charts but went to an impressive Number 2 in the Dance charts! It's also been certified Gold here with a whopping 400,000 sales.

It doesn't look as though RAYE, Jax or Martin were able to divulge any deeper on the song and how it came about, since it was released just a few weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns - but what a pick-me-up tune to keep our spirits high during that time!

2020: RAYE with Regard - 'Secrets'

Two months after 'Tequila', RAYE released 'Secrets' with producer Regard. It appeared on her debut mini-album, 'Euphoric Sad Songs', peaking at Number 6 in the mainstream charts but hitting the top spot in the Dance Charts - later being certified Platinum. 'Secrets' also gave RAYE her second BRIT Award nomination for Song of the Year.

RAYE discussed how the song came about to us in April 2020, chatting in an interview on Hits Radio: "It's a funny one because I'd written the top line, to a completely different song, with the same lyrics and melody, and it was a lot slower.

"And then Regard, I sent it to him, and he sped it up, gave it a whole new chord thing, put these instruments in, gave it this crazy drop. He like, reignited what was a slow R&B song and made it into some rejuvenated sexy, pop-dance banger." Regard continued by saying that RAYE is an amazing singer: "Every DJ needs to work with her."

This song was also pivotal for RAYE's career, as she was credited equally on the track. She told Notion magazine: "I have to throw my hands up to how amazing Regard was about the whole process with 'Secrets', because this was another instance where I could've been completely overlooked. I said, 'Listen, this is a song I wrote two years ago … You've made it absolutely incredible, but let me collaborate with you on this.'

"It was a compromise. And he let me put 'and RAYE' (instead of 'featuring RAYE'), which means the streams are shared. It means it's our track, it means I'm a lead artist. And that is the energy, I'm sorry that is the energy. And this is not shade, but this is me talking confidently about what I believe is right."

2021: RAYE with Joel Corry and David Guetta - 'Bed'

Teaming up with David Guetta for the third time, the pair were reunited by Joel Corry for 2021 summer smash 'Bed'. The track went to Number 3 in the mainstream charts as well as the top spot in the Dance charts, and has even been certified 2x Platinum with over 1.2 million sales! Once again, RAYE received a BRIT Award nomination for Song of the Year for this one.

Joel Corry told us in an interview that he'd heard RAYE's demo of 'Bed' and instantly wanted it: "I heard it and instantly was just like, 'Oh my god, that's a smash!'" He went on to explain that he'd slid into RAYE's DMs asking if she'd be up for working on it together, which she was - but mentioned she'd originally been working on it with David Guetta. "I sent David an email, like quite professionally. I didn't know David at this point. I was like. 'Dear David, I love this 'Bed' idea, I would love to work on it'. And he came back and he'd heard 'Head & Heart' it seemed like, and replied: 'Definitely I'm up for working on this'."

RAYE told Nexus Radio: "I love those boys! David is one of my best mates, I love him and I made the original idea with David. Joel, I never met until this lockdown, but when I met him, I just fell in love. He's such a good-hearted lovely person who cares so much about his artwork and his vision... It's been lovely working with these lads and it's also nice to have a hit!"
