The hit 90s TV show Frasier made a comeback in 2023, with Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Frasier Crane, alongside Only Fools and Horses actor Nicholas Lyndhurst.

The rebooted show was then renewed for a second season, however, after just two seasons, the programme has been axed by Paramount+, but it's not all bad news for fans...

Has the Frasier reboot been cancelled?

Despite the show being cancelled after just two seasons by Paramount+, CBS Studios who make the show are committed to the reboot, and are currently looking for another home for the show.

According to Deadline, both Prime Video and Hulu could be possible hosts, as they both have the original run of shows. Paramount+ will continue to host the original shows along with the first two seasons of the rebooted series.

Frasier season one

The reboot also called Frasier, is available on Paramount+, with a cast which also includes Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frederick 'Freddy' Crane, previously played by Trevor Einhorn, and Anders Keith as David Crane.

It was released on 13th October 2023. Ahead of the show, Paramount+ UK shared some first look photos, teasing fans by saying: 'Nicholas Lyndhurst will star in all-new Frasier, coming 13 October. Lovely jubbly, we can cheers to that! 🍻'.

Meanwhile, Paramount+ also released a teaser trailer on YouTube, which featured a rebooted theme tune, performed by lead Kelsey Grammer.

Like the original series, Frasier (2023) is set in Boston, where his son Freddy has just started college. Only Fools and Horses actor Nicholas Lyndhurst stars as Frasier's old college friend, who is now a professor, along with returning cast Bebe Neuwirth, playing Frasier's ex-wife Lilith (Freddy's mum) and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle - the producer of Frasier's radio show.

In an interview with The Independent, Kelsey opened up about the reboot saying: "It may be funnier than the original.

"Frasier’s going to explore a true friendship, which we never had him do before. David Hyde Pierce as Niles was his go-to – that is not available now. So the idea of a great friend became really appealing and new to Frasier. That’s a brand new world for him."

Frasier season two

In February 2024, Paramount+ announced the news that the series would return for a second season. Filmed in front of a live audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, the beloved show continued to follow Frasier as he navigated new challenges upon his return to Boston.

Speaking about the exciting news at the time, Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+ said: "Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television. The new series introduced Frasier to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey’s truly timeless portrayal of Dr Crane. We're so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for season two."

Then, just three months after the second season was confirmed, Paramount+ shared a video showing Kelsey arriving at the studios on his bike, with the script for the show in his bike basket.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Although all episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are now on Netflix, we'd love to see Will Smith get back into his character alongside Carlton Banks.

Stars In Their Eyes

A true classic! Stars In Their Eyes, originally hosted by Leslie Crowther, first aired in 1990 with Matthew Kelly taking over in 1993. The show did make a return with Harry Hill in 2015, but it didn't quite take off!

The Queen's Nose

Who would have thought that rubbing a 50p coin would be so interesting? We used to love watching the adventures of Harmony as she used up her magic wishes.

Fun House

We used to love watching two schools battle each other in three rounds of madness. Bring back the gunge and Pat Sharp's crazy hairstyles!

Grange Hill
