World superstar Madonna was forced to postpone her 'Celebration World Tour' last month, after she contracted a serious bacterial infection which left her in intensive care. Now, as she continues to recover, the 'Like A Prayer' singer has admitted she feels 'lucky to be alive'.

Taking to her social media pages to thank and praise her children and friends for being there for her during her time of need, the 64-year-old said: 'Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect.

'As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving……….. But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.

'So did the love and support from my friends. If you zoom into this Picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance.

'Artist who touched so many lives including my own.

'I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.

'Thank you @guyoseary for this gift!

'And Thank you to all my angels who protected me and let me Stay to finish doing my work! ♥️'. (sic)

Madge's manager Guy Oseary released a statement last month to reveal the pop icon had spent time in an intensive care unit after contracting a serious bacterial infection.

He said at the time: "On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.

"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.

"At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

"We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."

Although no new dates have been announced just yet, Madonna's plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour, with the singer due to perform in Europe in October.

Sharing a health update earlier in July, the mum-of-four stated: 'Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.

'My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.

'My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.

'I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

'My focus is now my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can!

'I couldn't be more grateful for your love and support'. (sic)
