Two brothers remanded over Wolverhampton Christmas Day murder

Two brothers have been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of 30-year-old Trey Johnson in Wolverhampton on Christmas Day.

Mr Johnson was found seriously injured on Burcot Avenue just after 3.30am. He had been stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrests and charges are part of an ongoing investigation supported by specialist officers, who continue to keep Mr Johnson’s family informed.

Richard Beckles, 19, and Tiego Beckles, 20, both from Wolverhampton, were arrested on 7th January. They face charges of murder, wounding with intent, and threatening someone with a bladed article in a public place.

Both men appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 9th January and were remanded in custody. They will next appear at the city’s Crown Court on 12th January.

Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, from the Homicide team, said: “This is a significant development in our investigation, which is continuing.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone with information about what happened – and would urge anyone who has not yet done so to please get in touch.”
