Mother and daughter named following Withernsea incident

Two bodies have been recovered but the search remains for a 15-year-old girl

Humberside Police have confirmed another two identities of those involved in a tragic incident in the water at Withernsea, following earlier reports raising concerns for public safety.

Police said that 45-year-old Sarah Keeling and her 15-year-old daughter, Grace Keeling, were involved in the incident.

Also named was 67-year-old Mark Ratcliffe, a member of the public who sadly lost his life while attempting to help with the rescue.

The bodies of Sarah Keeling and Mark Ratcliffe were recovered during the evening of Friday, 2 January 2026. Specialist teams are continuing search operations in an effort to locate Grace.

Both families are being supported by specially trained officers as enquiries and searches remain ongoing.
