Man dies after assault in Cardiff as police investigation continues

Three men have been arrested and police are appealing for further information

South Wales Police have confirmed that a 37-year-old man has died following an assault in Cathays, Cardiff, earlier this week.

Officers were called to Pentyrch Street at around 6.15pm on 22nd December after receiving a report of an assault.

Colm Marcus Boston, from Heath, passed away on 26th December at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. His family are currently being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

Three men have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

A 51-year-old man from Mynachdy remains in custody, while a 47-year-old man from Adamsdown and a 60-year-old man from Cathays have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

South Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward and are keen to receive CCTV or dash-cam footage from the Maindy Road, Pentyrch Street, Whitchurch Road, and Cathays Terrace areas between 4pm and 6.30pm on 22nd December.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Wells, Deputy Senior Investigating Officer, thanked the community for their support during the investigation.

“Our heartfelt condolences are with Colm’s family and friends as they come to terms with their tragic loss,” DS Lauren Wells said.

“I would like to thank the community for the support they have provided to this investigation to date and continue to urge anyone with information who is yet to speak to officers to come forward.”
