Man dies after collision on A1

A man has died after a collision on the A1 near to Great Casterton.

Leicestershire police were called on Friday after 11am following a report that an HGV, which was travelling on the southbound carriageway, had left the road and came to rest in a ditch.

The driver of the vehicle, believed to be a man in his 50s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Leicestershire police stated "Anyone who may have seen the collision or the moments leading up to it are asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 234 of 1 May."
