Man charged after human remains found in St Helens flat

They were discovered on Thursday

A man has been charged, after human remains were found in a flat in St Helens.

At around 11.30pm on Thursday 8 January, police received a report of a concern for safety and after enquiries, officers located the remains inside a flat in Gerards Court.

The person is yet to be formally identified.

George Gordon, 65, of Gerards Court, in St Helens, was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with preventing lawful and decent burial of a dead body and obstructing a coroner in the execution of his/her duty.

He has been remanded to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court today (Monday 12 January).

As part of the ongoing investigation, a 58-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in police custody and will be questioned.
