A seven-year-old girl from Blackburn is reportedly missing after being swept away by a wave in Casablanca.

Inaayah Makda had been on holiday with her family in Morocco.

Blackburn's MP Adnan Hussain says he's spoken with her father and aunt, and his office will do everything possible to help.

"The whole Blackburn community is united"

"I am heartbroken by the news", Mr Hussain said.

He continued, "My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this unimaginably painful time.

"I am urgently raising this matter with the UK authorities, including the Foreign Office, to ensure every possible step is being taken to support the search efforts and to provide the family with all the assistance they require at this deeply distressing time.

"I will also be making direct contact with the Moroccan Ambassador. The whole Blackburn community is united in hope and prayer for Inaayah and her loved ones."

The Foreign Office say they're also in contact with the Moroccan authorities.

A spokesperson said, “We are supporting the family of a British national reported missing in Morocco and are in contact with the local authorities.”

"...deeply saddened"

Inaayah's Martial Arts club, Masters of Martial Arts Blackburn, said in a statement, "Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are by this news. We are holding Inaayah, her parents, and their entire family in our thoughts and prayers.

"Please join us in sending strength, love, and hope to Inaayah and her loved ones."
