Family pays tribute to 15-year-old Luis Guembes after fatal stabbing in woodland in Stoke Park

The family of Luis Guembes, a 15-year-old boy who died in a stabbing, have paid tribute to him, describing him as a loving son, kind friend, and talented footballer with a promising future.
Luis was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of police, paramedics, and members of the public who tried to save his life. The incident took place in woodland off Lido Road, Stoke Park at around 6.10pm on 19th January 2026, Surrey Police said.
In their tribute, Luis’ family thanked everyone who had supported them.
“We would like to express our sincerest thank you for the amazing support we have received over the past 14 days,” they said.
"Thank you to the immeasurable number of friends, parents, teachers, Luis’s friends, football coaches and people from the community who have written messages, sent cards, flowers, paid tributes and even cooked for us. We will forever feel gratitude and love."
Acknowledging the tremendous impact of the tragedy, his family praised those who rushed to help their son and extended thanks to All Hallows Catholic School and Churt Football Club for their solidarity during this difficult time.
"To see the thoughts and memories in which Luis is held by all who knew him is an enormous comfort.”
Luis was described as a boy on the brink of becoming a young man, full of strength and beauty, with a warm and welcoming smile. He will be "forever remembered, never forgotten.”
His family also asked for privacy as they grieve.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, and possession of a bladed weapon.
Both have been remanded and are due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 23rd February.
