Dogs were safely rescued after a large fire broke out at Lancing Business Park in West Sussex.

The blaze involved two industrial buildings, alarming the nearby dog day care centre which was evacuated to ensure the safety of the animals.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) first received emergency calls about the fire at 16:24 BST on Thursday.

Around 50 calls alerted them to the blaze, prompting a response involving six fire engines, a water carrier, and an aerial ladder platform.

As of 20:30 BST, WSFRS continued advising nearby residents to avoid the area and to keep their doors and windows closed.

The Little Doggy Day Care Sussex, which operates in the business park, expressed its gratitude on social media to its staff and the emergency services.

‘What a day,’ the post read.

First, the day care extended thanks to staff member Ellie for remaining calm during the incident.

Second, it expressed gratitude to the firefighters who helped evacuate the premises, including Peppes's dad.

The day care also noted the importance of fire evacuation drills, praising the calmness exhibited by both staff and pet owners during the evacuation.

The post concluded with gratitude for the safety of all animals and a hope that nobody was harmed in the fire.
