Cardiff City placed under transfer embargo
The League One club are blaming an admin error after their annual accounts were submitted late
League One leaders Cardiff City have been placed under a transfer embargo for not submitting annual accounts.
The English Football League says it should’ve had them by the final day of last year.
It’s being put down to an admin delay and Cardiff expect the embargo to be lifted by the end of the week, so it won’t impact their transfer window plans.
A Cardiff City spokesperson said:
"Cardiff City FC are aware of reports this morning and wishes to clarify the situation.
"The Club has no financial concerns. All necessary paperwork will be submitted in the coming days, this issue will be resolved and any embargo will be removed.
"We wish to stress that this will not impact our January recruitment strategy."
