Woman dies after being hit by car crossing the road in Westgate-on-Sea

Another woman remains in a serious condition.

Officers investigating a fatal collision in Westgate-on-Sea are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Emergency services were called to the A28 Canterbury Road at the junction with St Mildreds Road at 5:06pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday 26th January).

Two women were walking along the carriageway at a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing when they were hit by a blue Ford Fiesta- which was travelling towards Margate.

A woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

Investigators are now asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: "Anyone who saw what happened, or who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, should call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference EX/YP/003/25."
