A centre in Keighley is set to expand after an investment from the Towns Fund.

Keighley Association for Women and Children’s Centre - who give support around mental health and poverty - are going to expand their premises.

Chief Executive Naz Kazmi said the expansion reflects the strength, resilience and potential of the community itself:

“This expansion is about hope, dignity and opportunity. Every single day we stand alongside women and families facing some of the toughest challenges imaginable — isolation, mental ill health, poverty and unemployment. This new space will allow us to reach further, support deeper, and change even more lives.

“We are profoundly grateful that our funding has been match funded to help us complete this work. We want to thank every funder who believed in our vision, in our values and in the women and families we serve. Their belief is not just an investment in a building — it is an investment in people, futures, and lasting change.

“This achievement would not be possible without our dedicated staff team and board of trustees, whose unwavering commitment, expertise, and passion drive everything we do. They are the backbone of the centre, ensuring that every woman and child who comes through our doors feels supported, safe, and empowered.

“We help women to develop their skills, rebuild confidence, and step into employment when they are ready. Everything we do is rooted in trust. Our purpose is to raise self-worth, grow confidence, and empower women to take control of their futures.”

Keighley Towns Fund Chairman Tim Rogers said:

“The ways this incredible charity supports the community are many and varied. We are proud to support this ambitious redevelopment and look forward to seeing the extraordinary impact it will continue to make.”

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport, Regeneration and Planning, added:

“The work this charity has delivered in Keighley consistently over decades is invaluable. They have supported countless women to empower themselves and given many access to opportunities they would never have otherwise had.”
