3G pitch upgrade gets go-ahead at Todmorden leisure centre
A new pitch and replacement fencing will be installed
Planners have given the go-ahead for refurbishing the 3G pitch at a Calderdale sports centre.
Calderdale Council’s sports services asked the authority’s planners to approve proposals to refurbish the pitch and replace fencing at Todmorden Sports Centre.
The centre, which also houses the town’s swimming pool, is next to Centre Vale Park at Ewood Lane.
And after considering heritage considerations – including close proximity of Grade II listed Fielden Hall and the refurbished bandstand in the park itself, they gave their approval.
No representations from the public were received over the application.
“Importantly the new enclosure will replace the existing enclosure which is currently in a state of disrepair, with a new fencing considered less intrusive…as such there is no harm to the significance of the designated heritage assets,” said officers.
The existing 3G pitch already has high fencing around it and it has floodlights to enable it to be used during the dark.
