Stage play telling the story Leeds teen who was stabbed to death outside school touring
After the fatal stabbing of a Leeds teenager, a play warning young people about knife crime is touring schools in the city.
Alfie: Forever 15 is based on what happened to 15-year-old Alfie Lewis, who was killed outside a primary school in Horsforth, in 2023.
The idea stemmed from his Auntie, Mechelle Lewis and her friend at RedBobble Arts.
It'll be performed for the first time in front of an audience at Abbey Grange in Leeds. Next week it will visit Horsforth High, where Bardia Shojaeifard, who was found guilty of murdering Alfie attended.
Mechelle said: "It's done through verboten style, so everything you that you hear is literally people's words. There's nothing adlibbed, there's nothing added, nothing taken away. It's real people and real talk."
Bardia was 14-years-old when he stabbed Alfie outside a school. After being found guilty of murder, he was detained for life with a minimum term of 13 years.
Mechelle also said: "So many mixed emotions, there's the sadness, I've watched the rehearsals and my heart breaks. I hear the words of my nephew Anthony which is Alfie's older brother and it tears me apart. But at the same time, I know it will make a difference."
