18 year old critically injured after being hit by taxi near University of Leeds

Police in Leeds are appealing for information after an 18-year-old pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries, having been hit by a taxi.

The incident occurred at 12.15am today on Blenheim Terrace, near the junction with Hillary Place.

A silver Toyota Prius private hire car was the only vehicle involved.

The young man who was hit was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

The driver, a 55-year-old man from Leeds, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and is currently in custody.

Officers are eager to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.

They are particularly interested in dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage.
