Today marks one year since Rob Burrow died. The Leeds Rhinos legend campaigned tirelessly for more awareness around motor neurone disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2019.

He also went on to raise a huge amount of money for charities supporting people with MND, alongside the likes of his wife, Lindsey and his former captain and good friend Kevin Sinfield.

Rob Burrow spent his whole playing career with Leeds Rhinos

The day after he died, aged 41, the spades hit the ground to start building the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, at Seacroft Hospital.

Joanna Parker is from Leeds Hospitals Charity, she has been inside the building recently, she said: "It is absolutely amazing, it is so big, light and airy, and what we're looking at now from the outside you can see big, kind of glass pane window, that is the therapy room where the patients are going to come in for their physio therapy and different treatments."

Someone who will also work there is Dr Agam Jung, who used to be Rob's doctor.

Dr Agam said: "For me Rob's legacy is about his courage and dignity, the way he lived with the disease and he made sure it didn't stop him from doing whatever he wanted to do."

Dr Agam said the centre is due to be opened around Autumn time.
