A murder investigation is under way after a 38-year-old man died following an alleged attack in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police were called at 10.23pm on Saturday, 24 October, following reports that a man was being attacked with weapons outside a property on Hedley Chase, in New Wortley.

Emergency services attended, but despite receiving treatment from paramedics, the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

A police cordon remains in place while detectives carry out extensive enquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates, from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said:

“A man has tragically lost his life, and we are supporting his family at this tragic time.

“From initial reports, we understand that four people who were armed with weapons, carried out a sustained attack on the victim. We are working extremely hard to identify those individuals.

“We have significant resources working to get answers for his family and ensure that those responsible face justice for their actions.

“This was a targeted and isolated attack; we are appealing for any information to who may have been involved to come forward and provide details to us.”

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help identify those involved to come forward.
