Murder investigation launched in Leeds
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Leeds.
Police say they were called to Burmantofts yesterday morning where a man was found with serious injuries.
A 51 year old is in police custody.
A Police statement says:
"Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Leeds.
"At 8.14am today (Thursday), police received a report of suspicious circumstances outside Gargrave Court in Burmantofts, where a man had allegedly attacked another man who was lying on the floor.
"Officers attended the location promptly and found a man with serious injuries.
"He was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later.
"Following enquiries at the scene a 51-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
"The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is investigating the incident and is appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in or around Gargrave Court at around the time stated."
Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes, who is investigating the incident, said:
“An incident of this nature will understandably cause concern in the local community, and an investigation is underway to establish how the deceased came to lose his life.
“Neighbourhood officers are patrolling the area to provide reassurance for residents, and I would urge people to speak with them if they have any concerns.”
