Man jailed for three years for role in 2024 Harehills disorder

The 42-year-old is the 34th person sentenced following the disturbance in Leeds

A man has been jailed for his role in serious disorder in Harehills, Leeds, during the summer of 2024.

Rica Palaghia, 42, of Gledhow Terrace, was sentenced to three years in prison at Leeds Crown Court today (December 11) after admitting to violent disorder.

The offence occurred on the evening of July 18 2024, as part of wider unrest in Harehills.

Palaghia’s sentencing marks the 34th conviction as part of a wide-ranging investigation into what happened that night.

So far, 86 arrests have been made, with 43 people charged for their involvement in the disturbances.

West Yorkshire Police says efforts are ongoing to trace those responsible.
