Man arrested after knife attack in Dewsbury

Police have made an arrest and are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault involving a knife in Dewsbury.

Officers were called to a commercial premises on Foundry Street at around 1.50pm yesterday (3 April) after a man was attacked inside.

The victim, in his 50s, suffered an injury from a bladed weapon.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to the injury which was not thought to be life threatening.

Two men and a woman, all described as white, were reported to have fled the scene in the aftermath of the incident, running up Market Street.

A 46-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and remains in police custody.

Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who witnessed what happened or can assist the investigation is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101.
