A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with an investigation into child sexual abuse at a former Bradford children's home.

A 63 year old man and a 60 year old woman were detained in Bradford and Manchester respectively on September 10.

Both have now been bailed pending further investigations.

Two men and three women had previously reported being abused as children while in the council-run Saxton Avenue Children’s Home on Saxton Avenue in the 1980s and 1990s.

They were aged between seven and 16 at the time.

It was renamed the Acres in 2014 and was subsequently closed.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Chantel Markham of West Yorkshire Police said:

“These arrests form part of our ongoing commitment to investigate both current and non-recent sexual offences against children.

“Safeguarding and protecting children is a top priority for us in West Yorkshire.

“We would urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, no matter where or when it took place, to report it to the police. You will be listened to and supported throughout the investigation.

“If anyone has any information about incidents that happened at this location in the 80s and 90s, we would appeal for them to come forward and provide information to us via 101 or use the live chat options at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat quoting reference 13260513294.”
